Very early Rolex gents watch c.1926. Rolex had a number of subsidiary brand names in the 1920s and 30s to be used on their cheaper lines of watches including Unicorn, Marconi, and Rolco. Rolco was a simple contraction of ROlex Watch COmpany. all of the subsidiary brands were dropped at the end of WWII and Tudor was launched as the name for their entry level lines.
This particular watch dates from c.1926 and is a rare early example of a gents watch. The double hinged case is in solid silver hallmarked, 925 silver imported to Edinburgh and dated 1926/7. It is also signed RWC Ltd. (Rolex Watch Company). The dial is also silver with an engraved pattern surface with black printing. It has been completely refinished faithfully to the original design by the UK's top dial restorer, and is therefore in mint order. The manual wind full lever movement is signed Rolco 15J and has been fully overhauled. The acrylic glass is in fine condition and has been polished. The crown is not original and has been replaced. Please note this is a delicate and rare watch not for everyday use and very special occasion wear only. Due to modern tastes it is very suitable for ladies wear.
