Omega 6B-159 RAF WWII issue Pilots/ Navigators watch c.1943. In superb original condition. Super lightweight alloy case, which for UK military issue was made of Aluminium, Copper, Magnesium and Manganese. Omega ref. UK2292 in fine original order, with faded white railtrack dial, blued steel hands in superb condition. The movement is the infamous 30T2SC which has been completely stripped and serviced and is running superbly.
Restoration note: Our primary objective was to preserve the originality of the watch so we have been very careful not to overpolish or 'buff' the delicate case. We have cleaned the case, and lightly polished the alloy applying an OE type light satin finish. The deeper scratches and those to the rear of the stainless steel rear cover have been left in order to preserve the sharpness of the military markings and this has been lightly polished and refinished in the original circular pattern. The dial has been gently cleaned but remains in the original aged patina. Full restoration on this dial would be a mistake as the original detail would be completely lost. The crystal has been polished and the movement has been completely stripped ultrasonically cleaned, oiled and rebuilt. It's been timed and exhibits relable rates between 10-30sec day on the electronic timing machine.
A beautifully original piece which came to us on it's original leather strap sadly now rotted beyond use but illustrating that it had been laid up for many years. The movement was in astonishing unworn condition. Comes with our Omega certificate of authenticity and in one of our presentation boxes.
