A very rare opportunity to buy a New Old Stock (NOS) Rodana Venus 188 manual wind Chronograph watch c.1960s. Gold plated case in pristine condition (handling marks only over 50 years), large size for this vintage, no wear to plate, stainless steel back engraved with 'Waterproof and 'Estanco' (spanish for Waterproof) giving a clue this could have been destined for the South American market, signed Rodana on the inside case back. A couple of minor opening marks are present on the rear presumably from the curious over the years but we can say with some authority a strap has never been fitted to this watch. Swarf from the original manufacturing machining is still evident to the drilled lug holes, with no evidence of tell tale marking to the holes of spring bar fitment.
Silver dial, light evidence of ageing oxidisation but no marking , polished acrylic crystal. The movement is a manually wound Venus 188 chronograph (2 register) all functions checked and working perfectly.
Please note we can fit a strap for wear but once fitted there are NO returns on this particular piece as a substantial part of the value is in it's time capsule nature. It's for this same reason that we have not serviced the watch, which would be recommended if you intend to use regularly, although we would recommend storing as is, due to its rarity in this condition.
'Very rare to find a 1960s chronograph like this..'
